Paprika Project update

Our Paprika Project continues to go from strength to strength. We now have our full complement of 200 farmers for this season and we will reach 400 in 2015/16 and then 600 farmers in 2016/17. When you consider that every farmer has nine dependents on average, the impact of this project is huge – reaching 6,000 people by 2017!
The 200 farmers are arranged in 14 “Clubs” and our Field Officer, Frank Kambadya, is doing a great job providing support and training to ensure that the farmers get the best possible yield come harvest time. Frank is known among the farmers as “Mr Paprika” and he certainly knows his stuff. Malawi Fruits trustees, Alan Laverock and Kevin Simpson watched him in action in October as he ran training sessions with each of the Clubs in preparation for the growing season.
